Lowering rear view mirror due to rollbar

Has anyone lowered the rear view mirror about an inch or so to better see past the top of a roll hoop?

I can see about 4-5 car lengths behind me, but farther than that it gets in the way.

Seems like having it mounted a little lower when the windshield is replaced next time might make sense.

Given the angle, I don't think it'd take much, wondering if anyone else has tried it.

When I had the full cage welded in I just used a 5 panel Wink. Try it - you'll like it. Price is right, also. Hose clamps will hold the brackets just fine.

I keep thinking maybe I'll also add back in the stock mirror, but never get around to it, and that was 10 years ago.

I don't think there is any special magic about the stock location, so why not mount it lower.

Grab the mirror, and rotate it 180 degrees. With the mirror upside down it sits an inch or two lower. The dimming feature will still work. You just have to remember the switch is now on top.

I would have never thought of that, what a great idea.

You can also keep it in the origional position but turn the switch and it will let you adjust it lower

Close to 30 years driving 911's and I never tried that. Very nice. Just goes to show you that you really can teach an old dog new tricks.

I had mine adjusted to drop as much as possible and keep it low.

Just tried the flip it upside-down trick and is MUCH better ..

Thanks
