Only in Aspen!!

Not real, but it's kinda neat anyway, I suppose.

That's not bad at all. Better than most replicas.
Note the rain gutter removal and later (993) windscreen and trim.

The wheels I can live with but the mirrors need to be changed.

Guess it's all where you live. Aspen wouldn't even be on the list of cities I'd guess where that car was parked.

Assumed it was a later car until I looked and saw it's a '72.

I've seen it in Denver (I think it's the same one).

How do you ID it as a '72 from those pics?

the passenger rear fender has an oil door, but if he removed the rain gutters he could have added the door, Kevin

That's too close to the door opening to be a stock '72 oil door. I'm guessing it's a detail of the 959 "kit", along with the drip-rail removal & windscreen update.

Maybe it's just an oil door sticker to appear legit.

And the Yellow Bird had one, too. So it's not entirely unheard of to do this mod.

See pics. '72 oil door is appx. 3" from door opening. 959 oil door is about 1.5" from door opening. I don't think the donor car is/was a '72.

I think it's the same one. I believe the owner lives up in Evergreen. I haven't seen the car in person but have met the guy and sold him some parts a few years back.

This must be the "959" that I saw driving through Aspen last summer.

There was another Colorado plated 959 replica here in Toronto 2 summers ago. Must be something in the water in CO, or maybe its the altitude.
