Quite common - mine had the same until I put the IROC tail on it.
Don't know why its common - but I have seen quite a lot of SC's with it. Maybe it's because many Carrera lids had the holes for the tail base already? Tim

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on how the 911 compares to the Rex. I used to have an MY98 modified Rex and have my own perspective.

I've never seen it before. SCs and Carreras have the same lid, Turbo lid is different, much bigger opening and is drilled for the wing. I think a lot of non turbo cars with turbo wings just have the tail drilled into an SC/Carrera lid, anyway....

Open road it was great - fantasitic brakes, exhilarating acceleration and handling but after a 3 hour drive your body knew about it - firm ride! The 911SC on the other hand is ideal. Handles great with upgraded suspension, stops fine and is a great daily drive as well as a relaxing cruiser. Acceleration is not the same but still no slouch. Whats more - I can work on it myself, parts easy to get and relatively cheap. And the value is not dropping - holding or even increasing slowly. Pan - your car looks great. Hope you can make it to some of the PCNSW events this year, even if just the social ones or come to the track days to watch. As for the lumpy drive, sounds like a visit to a good mechanic would sort that out. Depending on its maintenance history, a service/tune and inspection will give you a good baseline. The CIS system is great when it's working right and a Porsche specialist who knows them well will soon set you right. I work in the city, so Carlos Cavaco at Glebe (opposite Sydney Uni) has been ideal for me - came recommended and have been very happy with his work. Many of the others will probably chime in with their favourites. Tim

I has a fair amount of torque from 2000rpm onwards. I think the STi has biggerturbo, hence more lag? I can't really compare the 911SC with the WRX. Need to tune the 911 properly first. So far though there's no comparison. WRX is miles ahead in every way... acceleration, brakes, cornering, comfort, features... just doesn't look as flash!

That's air-cond, though I'm pretty sure it's a replacement for the original unit... Update: Removed the whale tail, insered child restraints, got central locking, got the fuel injection cleaned properly and it runs beautifully! Still nowhere near the power, brakes, cornering, comfort or features of the Subaru Impreza WRX, but it looks nicer! Also got a new Reg plate: SLO-911 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
