footwell heater blower noise

I am trying to find a post that explained in detail with lots of pics on how to clean your footwell heater blower motor. for the life of me i can't seem to find it. I seem to remember someone even saying that they removed, cleaned and lubricated the thing in under 10 minutes. if someone can point me to that post i would really appreciate it, thanks.

Timely post...I've got mine out to address the squeaking and the problem I can't figure out it how to get the squirrel cage off of the post. It appears to be pressed on but it's also not too strong so I'm really worried about breaking it.

I've done plenty of searching but can't find it. let's hope we get lucky.

If you guys dont mind. How about a quick detail on where exactly they are and whats involved to remove. I too need to do mine and a the moment dont even know where to start. I havent owned the car long, so not as of yet familiar with their placement.

they tend to melt down and even catch fire. i would suggest a new one when they squeel.

located under the "hump" in the top sides of the footwells.
remove hump(s) ~3 screws (think I may put my hump back on with velcro).
loosen hose clamps on top hoses, then "wiggle" the bottom connection loose, it's not held together with a hose clamp. now if i could just get that step-by-step cleaning procedure.

My right squeaks for just a few minutes after starting up. Guess a little 3in1 will be just the ticket to finally get it to ignite!

thanks for the feedback folks....luckily mine only has teh occasional chirping noise, but it drives me crazy when it does it. I figured if it were not tha hard to do, I would remove and atleast clean/grease if able. WOW...yeah just looked at that rediculous price for something so small, and just a blower.

The motors are mounted vertically so the fans eventually side down and rub/bind on the scroll housing. That's why they squeal and because they bind that's why they burn out and catch fire. Move the fan as high up the motor shaft as it will go without rubbing on the upper housing. The long term trick is how do you hold the fan up there?
