CV Hardware substitute

78-9 SC CV hardware calls for pan head M8 X 50 1.25 screws.

Why can't you use standard M8 X 50 1.25 bolts (hex head)?

Sacrilegious?

As long as the hardness is correct for the application, I don't see why not. My '79 has allen-head cap bolts.

Pan head? Where do you see that pan-heads are required? Pan-heads are mostly used to fasten sheetmetal. Porsche calls for M8 x 1.25 x 50 Socket-head (6mm Allen key) machine bolts

Why can't you use standard M8 X 50 1.25 bolts (hex head)?

As long as they're 12.9 quality, you could. You also need good lock washers like Schnorr-type and the half-moon plates.

Sacrilegious?
Apply the correct torque. CV's coming loose are no fun.
