Interesting hood pins on RSR 74'

Hi, I have seen at least three 74' RSR with the same hood pins: as seen on the pic below there is a square backing plate which neatly also protects the hood corner.

do you know where I could find them?

This is just one source, you should be able to fine something local to you as well.

The AL plates are most likely custom formed.

Thanks Boba.

Maybe it is tailored made to each car. I was hoping someone was offering the alumium plates with the rivets as a kit. I have pictures of 3 other cars with exactly the same plates, all 3 wearing stickers of german builders, so the source if any is probably there. If anyone has a clue, please let me know!

I would also be interested. I was planning on just making that myself, but if someone has something already made for the 911 that would be great.

It looks as though its a fibeglass hood that has a void or a depression to accomodate the plate, making me assume they were designed for or came with the hood to begin with.

Looking at that photo again it does look like that hood was formed with the plates as part of their design.

Most of the hood pin sets have round scuff plates to pop rivet onto the hood. I have seen the corner plates fabricated like in the photo back in the day. These look to be a modern update, good looking.

These plates are made from aluminum to fit the backing area to not scratch the paint and offer support in a fiberglass hood of minimal weight so the pins don't pull through the glass.

On the 935/76 and on my car, Zuffenhaus made these in about 20 minutes:

The corner plates look great but I was curious about these.

I searched and found these...

Has anyone used something similar?

They work great but are far from period correct.

Alright thanks. Seems like I'll have to have someone fab a pair based on a few pics (there is no way I can do that myself!). Too bad noone offers them for sale, as I suspect there may a market for nice parts like this.

Cost is $60 per pair and ideally the hood should have a recess for the plate. That is the way the factory lids were made starting with the 74 iroc.
We have aluminum pins coming in the next couple weeks with the square end pin/round clip. Those should be in the $20 per set range

The plates will come undrilled so you can line them up with the rubber buffer hole in the front trunk panel properly
