early front suspension
I have all the hardware apart - but how do I separate A arms, torsion bars, and cross tube?
While I am here, how can I tell if these ball joints are still good? ![]() ![]() ![]()

Heat, penetrating oil, and a big hammer can work wonders.

wiggle and pry.
You have all the required fasteners out. The parts now just pull apart, and wiggling works wonders.

Don
Clamp the ball joint base part in a vice, and see if you can elicit motion in the upper part. Can you compress it? Get any side to side motion? Carefully look under the rubber boot to see if things are still nice and greasy inside, or has that rust gotten in there also. You can still get replacements. |
