Backdating heat

I tried a search but didn't find what I am curious about - may have searched wrong.

But, what is involved in backdating the heater... costs, etc?

Thanks!

it used to be sorta costly. but companies have started making very good replica parts. i have seen them, they look great. you need ducting for both sides of the fan, and some nice heater hose to go down to the exchangers. i say, less than $200 for sure. if you do a search you can sometimes find, parts cheap. it makes the engine compartment cleaner for sure.

Hi ,

First , for backdating , you need right and left air scoop , bolted on the fan.

You'll find these on this site.

Second , a pair of SSi or dansk oem.

Evidently , you must remove the factory blower fan.

You 'll need so the kit thats permits to install the hoses ,or cut off two holes , right and left , in the metal sheet.

It's easy to do with appropriates tools.

A pic of mine will be more explicative than words :

Your powers of discovery are somewhat limited, young one!

Anyway, here's what you need to do it:

 Left hot air duct, 930.106.321.02
 4 plastic nuts, 999.591.592.40
 2 rubber plugs, 999.703.044.50
 Right hot air duct, 911.106.327.00
 Right engine cover plate, 911.106.036.00
 Right engine cover, 911.106.827.00
 Right air duct support, 911.106.331.00

Thank Bitz Racing's EFI install guide for the above.

Backdating doesen't do much other than: reducing weight, preventing blower motor fires, clean-up the engine compartment, improve cockpit heat, look cool, allow aftermarket heat exchangers to work, allows you to get in zen with your engine. Coupled with other mods, this is the first stage down that long road.....

I realize I'm very lucky to live where I do in regards to heating in a 911. I have read so many stories about the Winter being so uncomfortable while driving the P-Cars, but when I'm in mine, even when it's "cold" for us, say, low 20's, as long as I am moving above 35 or 40 mph all I need is the heat controls pulled up to about half way. Otherwise, the hot air forced into the cabin will about run you out! From the foot wells, that is.
Prolonged idling would make it cool off in the cabin, but I try to avoid sitting in traffic.
