Hi,

This is an approximate translation:

Top Line - Ministry of Transport Model Serial Number (ID C157)
2nd Line - To be recognized Carbon Monoxide etc explosion prevention system
3rd Line - Porsche 8

So its an emissions sticker.

Ta! I kinda like the sticker as it is one little proof of provenance. Hoping possibly to track down any service records ; have a job ahead of me!
Given the current collection of decals Engine (TB2) what other decal would you suggest?

Even the Japanese seem to have trouble translating their stickers. We used to get Hondas with the following proclamation on the battery- "KEEP OUT FIRE AND/OR EXPLOSION!"

Phil

According to my Japanese wife..

Line 1 - Ministry of Transport Official Number C157
Line 2 - Carbon Monoxide Prevention System
Line 3 - Porsche 8

So TargaDavePerth was right on the money. My targa spent some of its life in Tokyo but didn't come back with any cool stickers. I do have some service records though :-) Keep searching!

your motor looks really good as is im not 100% sure but think a shell oil decal on the air filter cover would be fitting. most of mine have the decal and as clean as yours looks i would add it just for the cool factor.

So what is the story behind that decal? Is it factory original?
As it happens , I took mine off (and stuck it on my plastic engine rebuild folder) so I could clean the airbox. Actually thought of putting it back on ; definitely will if it is considered provenance!

Tazzie, I'd think all stickers, mods, scars and stories are part of the provenance of the car. Especially gov't regulated import/export stuff. The car's provenance is its story, for better or worse (959 body kits etc).

Put it back on and revel in the fact that your car is an international traveler.

Tazzie,

If you would like to know how to get your hands on the complete history of the car, I can tell you ALL about getting it. My car spent 19 years in Japan, so I know.
PM me, and I'll set you up.

Couldn't find it in this thread Is there no interest in hard to get replacement decals? anyway here's a scan of mine; I am going to try & clean it. Probably the Motul sticker has been plonked over the Shell motif!

& btw thanks Wurls!
