I FUCHin' agree with this! I want some polished petal Fuchs for my 993! |

Polished petals don't IMO look as good on SC and Carrera (didn't come that way), better on earlier cars. +21 on 7 and 8 x 16 (that's what I have). |
I think the twisties look cool though it does seem silly that they didn't make left and right side versions. BUT, I would almost always fall on the side of historical accuracy which in this case means the Fuchs. I think exposing the spokes like scotricker has instead of having the entire wheel black would look cool. Realistically, nothing is going to look bad on that car. It's a sharp looking ride.

Thanks to all who responded !
Photos really do generate interest (we men really are visual people) The winner is..... Fuchs by a country mile. On this forum stock rules it seems Turbo twists will get the flick. Thanks again-I enjoyed looking at everyone's responses and photos. |
Wow - looks like the twisters are getting no respect. So,... to add a little balance, I will throw my vote in with the twis.. - nope, just can't do it - go with the Fuchs - just not right to mess with nature's balance!

The twists look kind of lame. Its all a matter of opinion of course, but the rest of the world cannot be wrong....!;) |
The Fuchs look much better. Tire selection is getting smaller all the time. I have factory 15's but finding correct size high performance street tires is impossible. 16" sizes are dwindling as well. I went to 17's and handling and ride are both better than the 15's. Very large selection of high performance rubber.
225/45 fronts and 255/40 on the rear http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1266391492.jpg |
particularly on your car, I like the 17". Wider of course harder to steer, but ride nicer. Feel like it is firmer, and handle maybe better.
|
Steering is only slightly increased at very slow speeds as the 15's but the ride is better as even the wife noticed that without me saying anything. The car had the suspension done before I got the car and is firm with very little body roll as witnessed at the track. I do believe that the 15's had a very stiff sidewall that gave the harsh ride. Grip is very, very good. Tried to keep the stock look of the CE, it's close.

Yet another vote for the Fuchs.

Micheal car is looking great with the 17"īs. Nice clean and low look :)
To the original question: Im not that big fan of cup wheels, but the silver goes nicely together with the guards red. I have cup1 wheels for my extra tires. I seldom use them. I prefer the 17" rotas also. |
When I got my 1980 SC she went equipped with the 17' weels you see
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1266426129.jpg Driving along our country roads was terrible because you felt every small pebble under the tire I took these 16', maybe not so nice as the Fuchs but the car is now more stable and affordable. They are HIS weels :) Here in Italy 16' is also the wider diameter allowed for the SC... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1266426588.jpg I vote for Fuchs. Twisters fit in a 964 |
One more vote for Fuchs!

You've hit the nail on the head. The 17"tyre/wheel combo is much heavier and although I haven't measured the track, I suspect it is increased with that tyre/wheel combo fitted. The steering feel is less delicate (bigger gyros on each steering arm) and the car wants to follow camber changes in the road surface more readily (tramlining). The only real plus of the 17" setup for the everyday driving I do is the more impressive look of the guards being full of tyre (and it is a Porsche desigh too). For the moment the vote is for the Fuchs but I may keep the turbo twists and mount them on the car for a change should the feeling strike. |
Phil,
These are really nice & did I mention they are for sale? ;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1266459752.jpg |
Hi Mark,
No, you didn't but I think the postage to Mandurah, Western Australia may prove to be a little excessive ! |
