San Diego area (Escondido) engine drop 2/20-Invitation

Well, it is time. I'm dropping Ruby's engine on the noted Saturday (2/20/10-probably 9:00am) to kick off her improvement project.

Any and all in the area are welcome to drop by. I've got a hydraulic lift and ATV jack which makes it a pretty simple endeavor. You can watch and see what is entailed in an engine drop, and help if you wish-or not....company is always welcome. I'll have beer or whatever drinks are preferred.... I've got a lot of car stuff recorded on the DVR or on DVD on the 37" HD TV in the garage, and I can fire up the smoker or get some pizza dropped off for lunch. I think I've got some buddies in Texas that will attest to the fact that I try and make sure my garage events are "done right".

I've done this a few times and may have some of the stuff ready to go by Saturday morning depending on my schedule the week prior-which will make it a pretty simple project. But then again, if there are some that want to see the whole process, we can go start to finish, which is 2-4 hours depending on how much discussion we partake in.

Ed's "garage events" are not to be missed. I do seem to remember they are sometimes cold and wet, but still worth attending.

So is this the 3.4 upgrade?

Yes indeedy. It's tough to make the judgement call on when to take a perfectly good 911 out of service, so 2/20 is the date!

I'd like to come, but have to stay with the house during the rain to watch out for erosion since I don't have a lot of plants in at the time. Maybe you can take some pics & post them. I'm looking forward to having time to start putting my '69 back together. Have fun.

Having helped out Michael's (FXeditor) engine drop last month on his Carerra 3.2 I'd love to attend and assit any way I can! I've got this coming up on my SC and the more familiar I am the better!

anyway of moving it to Feb 13th when I will be in your neighborhood so an East Coast "PELICAN"... with tired wings from flying all the way across USA can land in your yard, meet everyone and check out how the engine drop is going...?
All kidding aside, it sounds like you are all planned out... maybe we can meet sometime the week I am out Ed...I did not hear back from you with my last email to you...

Thanks Mark. I'm hoping to get in the 270's at the crank....seems like others have made that with similar mods. My fingers are crossed!

Sorry Bob, I thought I'd replied. I've been travelling non-stop almost the last month. I've only seen my wife one night in the last two weeks. I'm headed to Pennsylvania next week coming back Friday. Maybe we can meet up on the 13th?

One of the reasons I'm waiting til the 20th is so I can get one more drive in her before she goes under the knife. Not happening today, it's raining again. But, I'm not complaining, we need the water.

well lucky me Ed... we had to move back our vaca to SoCal 1 week so I can make it to your engine drop gathering... My sons' basketball team beat a team they got creamed by just a week ago, resulting in their going to the playoff finals being held the 14th which he even said, "go to CA w/o me as I can't leave my team for he finals" and we were in full support of his decision & also don't want to miss the game...so changing the travel plans cost dearly but what can you do... got to love them kids... :-)
