That time again. I've come to terms you can't really change all the oil.
Would it be better to fortify with a quart of Marvel or Royal Purple. Thanks as always Roger |

Short answer-NO- now, tell us what do you mean "can't really change all the oil" Like what's left in the oil cooler/oil lines? That's ok, just use a good oil/filter approved for your type 911 (don't know what that is) and you will be ok, No additives needed.

Porsche recommends no additives, just regular oil changes.

Thanks again for quick response. No additives now or in the future will be used. Exactly on the oil lines and cooler. Somewhere out there there must be some fancy purging/vacuum machine. Thanks roger

some people blow the lines with their air hoses - I've never bothered
Just change the oil every 3k to 5K (depending on your level of paranoia) and even with 0 miles, every year |

I think Elephant Racing sells lines with fittings to drain that oil too.

Are you using an "approved" oil? from the ultimate oil thread. If not Swepco 502 oil improver is a good idea, 2 pints for a 911. SWEPCO Additives

I always use Penn Brand but I would like to know why no one seems to mention Shell Rotella which is the factory fill for our vehicles and alot!!! cheaper?

Shell Rotella has changed their formulation to meet new standards. Less of the "good stuff". I have several bottles of the old formulation sitting on my shelves.

Yes, read the article in the technical section from LN Engineering. It really blasts the new oil and especially Rotella which used to be a great oil. I add some GM EOS or Cam Shield with oil changes and I buy any SL rated oil that I can find as the zinc content is 50% greater than the SM Oils. This is especially important for high lift flat tappet engines and apparently less worrisome for OHC engines but why take a chance. I also read recently that Mobil 1 is no longer a true synthetic as the factory near New Orleans was taken out by Katrina.

It figures, Shell Rotella at my Walmart is about $11.00 dollars a gallon, so of course it is no longer a good product for our cars. Oh well!
