Steering Noise Question

When I turn the wheel at low speeds (i.e. parking) I've started to hear a "grainy" sort of noise...for lack of a better term. No squeaking, no popping, no grinding. Something may be rubbing against something else, or maybe something just needs lubrication. It actually sounds like my knee when I flex it (you guys of a certain age know what I mean).

From doing searches, I'm guessing it may be bushings or horn contact needing grease...any other guesses?

I haven't experienced any problems with the steering, it's fine...I just want to diagnose the noise. Thanks.

I think it's the steering bushing starting to break apart. That's what mine sounded like before it completely broke apart - I then started to get side to side play.
Look at this thread..Mitch Leland's Steering Wheel Bushing
I bought the bushing that Mitch makes and all is well - an easy fix.

Mine was making scraping noise like you describe while turning the wheel during low speeds. I took the wheel off and could see where the horn contact was scraping the copper. There were little shavings all around the contact strip. I put a little di-electric grease on it and it went away.

Hope that helps!
