Emergency Brake Return Spring

replaced emergency/parking brake pads, the return spring doesn't seem right, it rubs against the adjuster, (which is orientated correctly according to Bentley manual), it does not bind on the spring, just seems like the spring retaining hole should be located further down the brake pad, thought of drilling a new hole and moving the spring slightly forward, any thoughts?

The spring keeps the adjuster from moving. When adjusting the brakes, you move the star shaped adjuster displacing the spring (out of the star depression) and repeat till properly adjusted. Much like the brakes on every car that had drum brakes.

thanks, i know understand "porsche" emergency brake, slightly different from other drum brakes, especially the cable pull linkage. I didn't pay attention to how close the return spring was when i took it apart.

thanks again
