G50-01 input spline same as GT3-Cup?
Hello,
I am looking at multiplate Tilton clutches to custom fit (flywheel) and can buy one from a 996GT3-Cup. However, will the clutch plate splines from a GT3-Cup fit my older G50/01 transmission input shaft? Thanks in advance, Walter |

I believe it does. I have a 997 Cup Sachs Racing 5.5" triple plate clutch, flywheel, and hydraulic throw out bearing and they are a direct bolt on to a 3.6L with a g50/20. I believe that all of the g50s are interchangeable impute shaft wise so it should work. There is an adapter plate to connect the hydraulic throw out bearing to the original clutch guide tube bolt holes so you may want to check if the 01 uses the same guide tube as a 20.
Having said that, I have sampled both the Tilton and the Sachs parts and the Sachs is a significant amount quieter than the Tilton. The argument I have heard is that the tolerances are tighter on the Sachs parts they have less room to bang around and make noise. I am assuming that this is a race car application so noise is not that much of a problem but I find the Sachs to be less annoying. Also, it depending on how much your flywheel weighs and what engine you will be bolting it to but with the stock Cup weight flywheel I would not consider this clutch for anything other than road race use. It is a bit tricky to drive around the paddock, or any place that requires any form of stop and go. Sure does rev out nicely though. -Evan ![]() ![]() |
