Bypassing the central locking system?
Have people gone back from the central locking system to the manual system? I've had some misfortune with the microswitches, broke one off, glued it back into place and no joy.
I'm considering going back to the double forked door lock system which is fully manual. Has this been done? Tx.

Yep, many have done it including me. You just need to remove the central locking guts from inside the door, and replace your single-fork latch with a dual-fork one. I'm very happy I did it.

What if you just pulled the central locking relay?

Here are a couple of threads that should be helpful. You can find many more if you search on terms like "central locking" and "manual locking" or similar.
Convert from Central Lock to mechanical Lock central locking...not working. 1987 Cars with central locking have a different latch unit than cars with manual locks. Simply pulling the relay or control unit won't do it - you'll be able to unlock with the key in manual mode, but it's impossible to lock it with the key. |

Garp,
Just install an aftermarket keyless entry using the factory actuators, strip out the micro switches, just disconnect them from the door harness's, pull the plug on the original alarm unit and wire it into that harness. I did it and really like the keyless entry. Cole
