Front seats question and more.

Can someone tell me if it's a straight forward job to switch sides for the front seats? My drivers seat is more soft than my passenger seat and therefore I'd like them to switch places. I know that the adjuster and release handle will then face inwards instead of outwards.

Oh and another question: What purpose does the black rubber thingie above the rear reflector under the engine lid serve? Every time I wash the car water will be trapped behind the rubber thingie. (I don't know what it's called in english) To dry away the water I always take off the rubber list (?), but it's a damn annoying job to get it back in place. I know that 964s don't have it so I might be able to get rid of it or....?

The seat switch is as easy as 8 bolts. I use a 1/4 inch drive socket wrench, with a 4 inch extension, and 10 mm deep socket. Takes about 15 minutes to switch the seats around.

I forgot, if you have a drivers side only power seat, then no it will not work. BUt if they are manual adjustment, no problem.

It's only an issue if you have electric seats. In some cases, the brackets are removeable, which means you can switch without reversing the orientation of the slider bar.

Thanks for your help. This sounds like a simple enough job even for me

What post? Fatty previous owner? Let me have a link please The previous owner of my car wasn't big or heavy. But the passenger seat is almost unused so that's why I'd like to change it over to the drivers side.

Changing seats is only a matter of 8 bolts. However, the seat back lever and recliner adjustment will be on the inside ( a real pain.) Rebolstering the seats is not a difficult job - I re-covered both in one night using an ample supply of hog rings and a little 3M spray adhesive.

You can buy replacement cushions, but if they are only a little saggy, you can get thin foam from a fabric store and stuff sections to fit. Be careful though, the old linen guts of my original seats tore pretty easily. This fabric is hog ringed at various spots and controls how tightly the seat cover conform to the foam.

Lost Friend

I know its a big country but,, Do you know of a Kenneth Enggreb. I'm not sure on the spelling of the last name. Used to work with him when he was here in the States. Last I knew, he started working a farm in Denmark. He has a Danish first name but went by Kenny when he was here. Approx 39 years old.

Sorry don't know of any Kenneth Enggreb or Enggren as I think it might be. Tried to search for the names at www.contakt.dk, but no results.

Thanks for the time. I have searched the name too but can't get too much help here in the states looking for someone abroad. I was going to try to look him up last xmas as I was in hyvinnka, finland for work. But not enough time to go exploring on my own.

A side note to the Finnish people.... Everyone I met was very polite and helpful to me. Thanks to all you nice Finns!! I had a great time in your country!!!!

Well the first problem I see if you move the driver seat to the passenger seat's spot (and vice versa) is that you won't be able to reach the steering wheel, let alone the pedals. Guages would be tough to read too, which may not really be an issue.
Also, the correct name is "doohickey" not "thingie", the term "thingie" can only be used with reference to parts INSIDE the car.
Just thought I'd clear that up...always ready to help a fellow Porsche nut.
