85 Carrera Electrical issue
1985 Carrera, on acceleration my seatbelt light comes on for 5 seconds or so and sound from stereo cuts out for 15-20 seconds?? Sound like a loose alternator belt or alternator itself? Voltage regulator maybe?

Does the alternator light come on during acceleration?

To tell you the truth I didnt know there was an alternator light until I just looked
![]() No, the light didnt come on. I also notice that I have the ringing/whistle sound like Mrbeasly's posts and the noise is now intermitent when at idle. |

More than likely the voltage regulator within the alternator. If you odo a search, there's lots of examples of similar issues as well as ways to do simple checks with a VOM. You can buy the regulator from our host, getting the alternator out and replacing the VR is a good DIY job.

Just found a previous post with the identical situation. Ordering a voltage regulator, thank you!

I'd get some voltage measurements.

I totally agree. Even if you don't have a mulitimeter, buy one and it'll pay for itself.
