Hello All

Hello everyone, New to this forum but not a newbie to all things technical. Have been lurking for some time and decided to ask a question regarding a newly acquired 1970 911S. I have spent the last couple of weeks detailing and getting to know the content of this project and I find a few anomalies.

1) The distributor (Bosch 0 231 159 007 JFDR 6) has a Crane Cams Fireball X R 700 unit installed (hard to identify as the box has been painted). The unit has eliminated the vacuum pot on the distributor housing. Any issues without vacuum advance?

2) After removing the alternator, fan shroud, and all related wiring I discovered the ignition coil (transformer) to have the positive post (1) grounded. I see no advantage to having the primary winding polarity reversed as the secondary output would also be reversed wearing out the spark plug center electrodes prematurely. Any comments?

Thanks,

Simon

"Newly acquired 1970 911S" without photos? You'd better post some before you get flogged.

Nice car. It will be a fun project! And even funner to drive and listen to with the top removed. These cars came with Bosch CDI and getting that back to stock may be a good project. My distributor on the 69 doesn't have vacuum, and the positive side of the coil is connected to a fan housing bolt.

Regards,

Terminal 1 is the ground. Terminal 15 is the positive.
