Changing plugs on a 81 SC
Hi
I'm changing the spark plugs on my 81 911 SC and four out of six went well but the two closest to the back on both sides, I can't even get a socket on. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you,Bucky |

+1 I've heard the factory tool is the way to go, but I don't have one.
I used a socket with two short extensions instead of one long one. First insert the socket with one short extension, then after they're down in the spark plug hole put the other one in. That's the only way I could get it in there. It sucked, and I had problems getting all the tools back out, but in the end it worked.

I struggled with a socket / extension / universal. Then I discovered I had the factory tool and it was a breeze. The factory tool has flex in it.

Funny...I did this today as well.
I used the factory tool this time around and it was so much easier. The first time I did it I used a socket/extension/etc. and it took a lot longer. If you can find one it is a good investment.

Is there at least a link to a picture of the factory spark plug tool? I don't have one either, and need to change my plugs but have been dreading it. Seeing at least what it looks like would give me an idea of what is necessary to get the job done.

A wobbly extension works just as good, and you don't need a universal joint.
