Hey Pat, I also had a problem, it appeard the socket needed to bend to get in there. After racking my brain I went to the socket that came with the vehicle and low and behold it was flexable. Try that if you still have one in your kit.

If you have your tool kit, the spark plug wrench Porsche included is the perfect tool for the job.

+1, the oem tool is perfect. I did my engine last night with the oem tool with the allen wrench it comes with, along with a nice solid 12inch breaker bar that i would slide over the alan wrench to gain additional torque. Once they started to loosen up, i used a ratchet with the same sized hex bit into the oem tool. I did all the plugs in a little over an hour by removing nothing other than the airbox filter and cover.

I don't have the original tools. I'm using a plug socket from the Metrench set, plus 2 short 3/8 extension. Insert the socket with one of the extension first, add the second extension and ratchet.
When the plug is loose remove the second extension, etc. I hope this helps if someone doesn't have the original tools. Cheers

i don't have a swivel on mine. it's an odd combination of craftsman extensions and it works perfect. can double check if anyone cares.
