zenith squirters
Fellow pelicanites. Is there a "knack" you know of or specific tool you use to unplug zenith squirters?
Please share. I've heard piano wire. and no I'm not just being lazy. I've had carbs off and on no less than a half dozen times in the last few months. Not always for the squirters, it just never fails that there isn't one or more that is plugged.

not sure if you can get a wire small enough to clean them out. There is a check valve at the base that will prevent you from passing the wire all the way through. I saw some new ones for sale for $80 each, might try using carb cleaner to blast them. any dirt will clog them up quickly.

Soak them in carb cleaner overnight.

"borrowed" some very small diameter piano wire from work today. I'll keep you posted if it works. Carbs are on the bench right now so it's not a problem. I want to devide a method of unplugging without removal. Carb cleaner in the orofice at the accelerator pump didn't cut it.

No worky. Wire diameter too large. Those really are small orofices.
Is it a major "no no" opening them up? Another carb disassemble necessary I guess.

Accelerator nossels/jets
After you have cleaned your nossels use a 1cc insulin syringe to measure the displacement. Mark the graduations first as the fuel will remove the markings.
Just bend the thin needle to block it. You may have to sand down the flange in order to get the syringe under the nossel exit. I also used a thin piece of wire to hold the syringe. |
