I have a 1981 911SC. On the right side of the steering column there are TWO (2) control levers. One is the wiper. The other is?????? I don't know what it does. It activates nothing since I got the car. Does anyone know what this lever is for?
Thanks, John (Mr.Flat6) |

Passenger seat ejector lever?
If it is a factory part then it must be the cruise control. there were never any other levers installed by the factory.

I'll try again as well. It is the cruise control. If the lever doesn't do anything, the cable may be broken/disconnected at the throttle bracket or the vaccuum control unit in the engine bay may be inoperative.

Cruise Control
I have a 79 SC, and it is the cruise, but mine does not work either. Anyone have any more (specific) suggestions on how to troubleshoot and fix it?

I too have an 81SC, it's the cruise control. Personally, I don't think that cruise control belongs on a 911, it take away from the driver being an active part of the driving experience.

I rarely use my cruise, but it is a valuable thing on a 911. I don't know about you guys, but on the freeway it's very easy to cruise at 100+mph. That can get very expensive, but if you are on a long trip you can set the cruise and worry less about smoky the bear.
