Headlight Washers don't work

Hi,

I have an '87 Carrera with the High Intensity Headlight Washers. Neither one of them work when the headlights are on. I understand that they have their own pump. Does anyone know where this would be located? Has anyone else had similar experience?

Thanks

how full is your windshield washer tank? Mine stop working when the tank starts running low on fluid -- and resume operation when I top off the tank

Probably clogged up. Took quite a bit of compressed air and cleaning to get mine working again.

On our '86,

The pump is located in the boot, next to the condenser blower motor.

Can you hear the pump running when you activate the windshield washer(s)?

That's for the windshield washer. The headlight washer pump is attached to the outside of the washer reservoir, which requires removal of the valance for access.

Not according to the Bentley.

And please note that the headlight washing CKT is in the top left corner of the schematic.

Well, congrats! You found another error in the Bentley manual. Look on page 971-8 for the location of the windshield washer pump, and note it says exactly the same thing.

I replaced the headlight washer pump in my '86 a couple of years ago....it's attached to the washer fluid reservoir...I promise!

Been a while, but as I recall my non-operative headlight washers was nothing more than a kink in the hose. Easy to overlook, and can be hidden from view
