Engine flush. Good or bad? how often?

I found a local source for Brad Penn and I'm going to try it. My qustion is wether or not I should use some type of engine flush before I change over, and if so, how do you insure you get all the flush out. I can disconnect the oil cooler lines and let them drain, remove the sump cover, drain the oil tank, disconnect return from engine mounted cooler, and let it all drain.

Is this a concern, should I even use a flush, or should I just drain whats in there and add the BP.

I would never ‘flush’ an engine with anything.
Only put engine oil in an engine.

Now, if you are changing incompatible oils (there are none I know of), then I would disassemble everything and start from new – including a rebuild.

Common sense says to just change to the new oil. If you want to get almost all the new oil in the system, change the oil several times between drives to get the thermostat(s) open. Use the perfect drain oil in another vehicle rather than throwing it away.

The horror stories on total engine failures abound, and we are not even talking about Porsche's.

To get all the oil out of my car, I drive the car around and warm it up. Pull into the drive, place my jack under the engine plate (cedar wood block in between) and jack up the tail so that some jack stands can go under the rear torsion bars.

Then I jack up the car in the front via the front torsion bar cover (and wood block). More jack stands up front.

Undo your rear oil cooler and bottom of engine drain plus and let gravity do it's work. You will need several large drain pans and work quickly before the thick 20/50 oil starts to cool.

EDIT-1: wheel blocks and flat surface recommended.

EDIT-2: you can mix dino and synthetic oil together, many are a mix anyway right out of the container.

EDIT-3: you will never get all the old oil out, but you can try your best. Typically a quart or two left somewhere. The warming up of the car to FULL operating temperature opens up the front oil cooler thermostat so the oil can drain out the lines.

If you feel you need to flush the motor or want to due to new buy or what ever reason, just do a few low milage say 500 OIL & filter changes, with a good quality oil and have the car HOT when you do the change it, thermostats will be open dirt is suspended and it will run out FAST.
As above NEVER put that engine flush stuff in your car.

Yes, you can, flush it with oil . Actually, you should if the car has not been taken care right or unknown history. Usually, on any econd hand car I bought, I change engine/tranny oil as soon as I can and change again in short period of time. On my 911, since it's too old, I did the second change after several miles (change it, drive around, change it again)

"Flush bad, not good, not good." - adapted quote from movie Wizards. Flush is bad in any engine, even more so in a 911 because of the oil flow and all the finicky seals.

Funny! Don't know about that first one. Everyone I know who's had a precolonoscopy flush... Well I don't think they described it with the phrase good times!

If you get the oil hot just before you drain it and then let it sit overnight you will get 10.5-11 Qts out. What little is left will be so diluted by the fresh oil that it won't matter. The only time I've heard of anyone doing anything more radical is if there is a bad substance in the oil like metal shavings from breakage (or some engine flush product that doesn't belong in there). As others have said, if you really need to clean it out, do another change shortly after the first one and always change the filter (use either Mahle or Porsche filters).
p.s. Brad Penn is 10% synthetic so don't worry about it not mixing with a synthetic oil.
