Enjefriy...love the color/black Rohs(?)...did you paint the "smiley" (rubber front hood/bumper seal)?

Wanna make fellow peilicans jealous? Tell 'em what a gallon of gas costs there

Thanks for the comments all. Ingenuity rose from the need, rather than smarts.

Dueller,
The metal sheet under the smile was corroded, and hence caused a bubbly surface.
When i had the car repainted, i had the guy manufacture out of ally sheet, a replacement smile, which he then finished to match the bumper. Additional work was not charged even.

Brunei fuel is about 38cents(us) per liter, or rather us$1.43/gallon for Ron 96 unleaded.
We only have Brunei shell as the fuel supply here. So no other companies supply.

80-911SC,
I dont blame you. I travel quite abit, running small courses for my company, and i found alot of folks out there dont know about Brunei.
We are a very rare breed, in that there is very few Bruneins in the world. I guess we are very very average people. We haven't made any real headlines (which is good), as we are a young tiny country.

Fender Oil Cooler

A more recent mode.
Yet to prove whether effective or not however.

Picture shows how i removed the rubber strip on the front bumper, and replaced it with an alloy mesh.

A close up shot shows how its attached.
I used four long M4 bolts, attaching to the original bracket already avail in the bumper.
To Space out the mesh, i merely used four equally cut pieces of rubber hose.
Crude, but light, cheap, & readily available.

BTW, my fender mounted oil cooler is a 28 Brass tube type. No carerra type oil cooler yet.
During idling in hot Brunei, my oil temp approaches 120C. So i also added an electric fan tie wrapped to the cooler. Manual selection via a toggle switch and relay to get it running.
Allows slower rise in temp, but i haven't eliminated the eventual increase in oil temp yet.

Great job!
Jpnovak,
recently, a friend of mine here, with a 1990 C2 also had a similar problem. He had the local machine shop manufacture a replacement bush for him out of teflon. The C2 has a different type of shift rod, which had to be pressed out at the machine shop for disassembling the universal joint.
It was probably a cleaner looking solution. He forgot to take picts though, which is a shame.

Enjefriy,

What sheen did you paint those wheels.
Is it Satin.

I am thinking of doing my Cups black.

Hello Enjefriy,

Beautiful car - and keep up the good work - I wish mine sparkled like yours does.

I find this amazing because was a kid I always wanted a ham radio so I could talk with people from around the world. Now all I have to do is hit the enter key.

And don't sell yourself too short, we're paying close to $3usd/gal, while some wish they could afford to retire someplace sub-tropical.

Thanks for the pics. I like the mesh grill next to the lite, I think Steve Wong did something like that too.

johnb911,
the wheels was painted with Matt Black, or so i thought it was.
I requested for a Black that was Dead or rather Not shiny. And this was what i got instead.
Lucky for the paint guy that i liked it too in the end. (Otherwise i would have gone ape **** on him. hmmm, very ugly indeed).
But seriously, its the same paint used to redo the trims around the car. Again, based on what the painter told me.

It somehow came out slightly different. I guess its because he never bother putting primer on it, that con man.
So these were off from a boxter, and were silver grey before. Maybe it acted as a background to the final colour.

steely,
Thanks Man. Imagine that this car was purple when i first got it. Lucky it was a very dark purple, cause it was years later before i had the money to have it resprayed.

80-911sc,
Thankyou Sir, appreciate the kind words.
Would appreciate more picts of your 911 even more
Hope to grab more picts this weekend.
Been having some issues with my clutch. I seem to have to depress the clutch pedal right to the floor to get into most gears.

But just as a reminder to myself, i am hoping to grabs picts of what i did to increase the illumination out of my reverse lights, My mod on the Shifter, to prevent mis-selection,
and my engine bay mod.

baffling up the air flow to your oil cooler may help...when the car is moving.

i covered the side and the bottom to let more air through the cooler and helped manage the oil temp better at 100F+ (or 35C+) track days...

yessssss,
Cheers Midnight911.
I can do this.
Force the air thru the cooler, which otherwise would have gone around it.
Looks like a very light install.
I really like ideas which don't add weight, and ideas which would reduce weight.
Like Impact bumpers are darn heavy, so wanna get it lightened without looking too much like swiss cheeze.

do you know about swapping the Euro crush tubes for the US type shocks?

or does a Brunei-mobile already have the crush tubes?

the Al bumper itself is not all that heavy - tho it is a lot more than FG...

Seine wanabbe

Having purchased from our host, the original Short Shift kit installed left me with the old removed parts.
Studying the removed bits, i couldn't help notice the similarity of the components.

So what i did here was to dremel the old plate, and re-install it on the opposite side.
I ground the old holes into tabs to allow for its installation under the two nuts.

Not a very original idea. But way cheaper.
Mod was c/out about 5 years back.
Still great to date.
