couple questions about trunk
My car is 1982 SC. Couple questions -
1. Inside the trunk there is a long plastic trim piece (called "cover, cross panel" in the Porsche catalog) that runs the width of the trunk and covers the latch receptacle. On my car that piece doesn't want to stay put. In the catalog there is also a part called "stopper" which seems to be missing on my car but I can't tell exactly what it is or whether it has anything to do with holding the trim piece in place? Anyone know? 2. The trunk appears to have fitting designed to hold the jack firmly in place, however, on my car I can't get the jack to fit in them. Can someone with an SC please take a photo of the jack in place so I can see how it is supposed to look? I'm thinking I may have a different jack than the one that came with the car (which wouldn't surprise me, as my car had no tool kit and only a jack and lug wrench). Thanks |

Your trunk latch cover should have at least four pins that go through the body work and are held in place by small speed nuts. Take out the plastic cover and if the pins are missing, buy another cover and get the speed nuts.
The jack is held in place by a rubber strap with two metal clips at the end and it is called a jack bracket and costs approximately $30. At the passenger side of the jack should be a rubber wedge in a metal bracket. If that stuff is missing it is replaceable unless somebody crashed the car and butcher ruined the mount point. |
