Power Seat help

Ok So I got tired of sitting on a milk crate while moving the car in and out and decided to put the driver seat in and wouldn't you know it... doesn't work.

So there is a small plug on the right underside.. which I am going to assume is the power and ground until I get the meter out and test... and then a large connector which looks to have 4 contacts. kinda looks just like the dme relay connector.

So let me ask you guys this.. If I bench test the seat... I shoud be able to just connect the power and ground and see if the seat works... if the seat work the the problems is in the car.... if not it should be the seat...

any info on the wiring of the power seat? and if the seat doesn't work how hard would it be to fix? any common problems

The most common problem on 911 power seats are the switches.

Sometimes this can be resolved by the injection of contact cleaner into the switch.

Do not use WD40 as it is conductive.

If you bench test your seat, you will need a 12VDC 15+ Amp power source.

Here's the CKT diagram.

Good luck,

Gerry

I'm pretty sure WD-40 is not a conductor - in fact, when I lived in the midwest, we used to spray our distributor points with it when they got wet during storms and it would displace the water and get us going again.

Having said that, you are better off using a spray dedicated for cleaning contacts because you want something that will evaporate.

Thanks... I should have checked the thread earlier ha I just got done working on the car.
Turns out the switch is a problem seems you have to work it pretty hard to get it to move.... but I also figured out that the small plug is for the seat belt and the larger plug is actually for the motors........Big problem it there is no 12V from the plug.
Dumb question... which it the fuse to the seat??

Make sure the connections are clean an insulated, I blew my fuse because I had exposed wiring and it hit the metal of the seat and melted .

I did not mean to imply that WD40 is an accepted conductor, but it is,
according to the folks who make it, slightly conductive.

And you are correct, it is in fact recommended for your stated application.
