Wheel fitment for after market wide body Carrera
I have aftermarket turbo flares front and back on an 86 Carrera. There are 1" spacers on the rear hubs with 6cm of thread extending out and stock front hubs. Will 16x7 (23.3 offset) and 16x9 (15.0 offset) rims fit my car? I was under the impression that these are the sizes that were made for a car like mine. I talked to the Pelican rep today and even though it states on the site "utilize original factory offsets to fit 1965-89 911,912,930 with Carrera® or Turbo flares" he says they will not fit due to the offsets. If you know absolutely that these rims will fit please advise. thanks

I had wheels made for mine at TruDesign in Colorado...I used stock backspacing based on 16 X 7 Fuchs....and had them converted to 17 X 8 and 17 X 9.5....no spacers needed. Pardon the condition of the car...it is just starting to get put back together after the conversion.

I have stock 7's and 9's (911 offset) with my car that has stock SC/Carrera suspension and spacers. You'll be absolutely fine with 7's and 9's -
Shoot - I had 8's (951 offset) and 9's on my stock 1987 Carrera before this car. That's without the turbo flares. Great looking car stormmaster

This is an important question and a bummer when you get it wrong. Here's an idea.
I took a piece of 6x1 and cut it to the exact cross section of the tire I intended to use and marked the center. I placed it in the wheel well in the exact location I wanted. I then set the ride height and camber to the settings I wanted to run. Then I used a second piece of wood to project the wheel mounting surface outwards toward the "tire". The "wheel" was bolted to the WMS and had a slot cut in it to accept the "tire" at the correct radius. Now I could load and unload the suspension with a floor jack to check the clearances. Remember the dynamic loads are much greater than static but it gives you an idea. Obviously I could measure the distance from the wms to the center of the tire to give me the offset, and I could make adjustments to see the effect of adding spacers etc.

I put 16x7 ET23 and 16x9 ET15 wheels on my '80SC after doing Turbo flares on front and rear. I have a 1" spacer on front and a 2" spacer on the rear and they filled the wheel wells and look just perfect! I installed longer wheel studs front and rear and used hub centric slipon spacers. Personally, I don't care for the bolt on adapters, and have been told they won't pass Tech inspection for competition. vancouver86/911, with stock front hubs and a 1" spacer on the rear, the wheels will fit, but will look goofy as they will be to far inboard.
I have since put on Italian aftermarket 17x7.5 ET23 and 17x9 ET15 Turbo twists and they look just right. Please no snide remarks by you Fuchs freaks! LOL EDIT: Stormmaster, Don your paint job looks superb and the wheels are awesome!

stock 911 which includes 930 thru '81 or stock late 930, '82 up? This makes a huge difference. Since you don't mention front spacers I suspect that you have late 930 hubs in front. assuming that you have either late 930 front hubs or 911 hubs w/ a 21mm spacer in front then 7x16 ET23.3 was the original 930 front wheel and in back w/ a 28mm spacer 9x16ET was an original wheel.

However....930s and Carrera M491s have a different rear trailing arm....so those dimensions are not the same for a converted Carrera.

w/ the right o/s 9 & 11 will fit comfortably but to know what the right o/s is one need to know what hubs and what trailing arms are used.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I have spoken with Jeff Alton and he states I have stock Carrera rear trailing arms and late 930 front hubs. Finding wheels to fit this car is proving to be quite a task.

the front late 930 hubs are the equivalent to the early 930 and all 911 hubs w/ 21mm spacer. on the early 930 w/o spacers 9 ET11-15 fits so w/ the late hub 9 ~ET33 - 36 would fit the same in back w/ 911 trailing arms 11 ~ET-8 fits
