Carrera speed sensor
The spec for the carrera speed sensor is 960 +/- 10% ohms. I have several, including new ones, I can get the first spec but on the other 2 test for spec which is 100K ohms, I get no response on the meter of 100k ohms, actually, no response at all looking for the 100k.
Now, if I m not using the meter correctly, which could be possible, but if I set on the 200k setting the meter should show .5 or 100k but doesnt respond at all and thats my concern why I dont get readings of sometype when the spec is known. TIA, Bruce |

Hi

I don't know why you are getting the readings you're getting, but I got the same readings on a known good sensor.
Maybe someone will chime-in and enlighten us.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you are saying and someone correct me if I'm wrong but if you are looking for 960 Ohm and you have it set at 100k (100,000 ohm). You would be looking for a reading of .0096
Try setting the meter to 2000 and not 200k

Im trying to figure why new and old wont test for the spec of 100k ohms
the 960 is fine on all of them, but none, even new ones wont give me the 100k of the other 2 readings necessary. Thanks, Bruce |

The spec doesn't compute for me. Either it is 960 or 100k but can't be both. Bentley says 960 with a pretty wide range, up to 1300 I believe. It's a coil of wire around a an iron core right? I think they are ok. Ken

Its running.. Tuesday, I didnt have a spark but I did have a fuel leak on the hose off the filter.
I was looking for the spark on the new sensors and wasnt getting it but the fuel leak was the real problem, fuel solved today but was still looking for spark, then it lit. There is 3 specs because there is 3 pins on the wire connection. The 1 to2 pin is 960+/- 1 and 3 pin is 100k ohms 2 and 3 pin is 100k ohms Bruce |

what's the spec source, bentley? What is the tolerance? you showed one for the 960 value but not the 100K. Is it 100K minimum perhaps?

Yeah, based on that it sounds like 3 is gnd and you are just checking for a short. A good check considering how those sheaths deteriorate. Ken

oh right - the pin out sez it all. so 100K or anything higher is good.
maybe gently wiggle the cable as you test this to chk for intermittent if its old and see if it varies.
