Crack at rain gutter above b pillar

Greetings! I found a crack above the b pillar on the bottom of the rain gutter. It seems to be growing over the last couple of months. Any ideas on what might be causing it and what repair/reinforcement might be in order to stop it from getting worse? TIA.

Thats a seam where the quarter panel meets the header for the roof and the roof. There is several layers of steel there. It was leaded in at the factory

That little spot is one of the first areas to inspect when buying a used 911 because any collison damage that tweaks or twists the unibody a little will show up show up right there as small waves in the origonally smoothly curved and contiguos sheet metal in, below, and above the rain gutter extending into the roof.

It's very difficult to repair before repainting if that happened and body shops just block it out with cheap bondo or a better shop may use allmetal body filler that looks like metal when the paint is scratched, sanded off, or cracked.
USC All Metal Quart

If thats bondo or some other body filler cracking from body flex under the paint that proabably answers it.

If the car is in origonal paint thats the first time I've heard of this happening at the top of the B pillar and rain gutter area.

Thanks for the replies. That crack wasn't there when I purchased it 3 years ago. I'm worried that it's a sign of an underlying weakness somewhere in the under body.

Could it be just rust? Or some fault in the paintjob?

I have seen and helped repair this on a local car. No rust in the car that I could see...
Yours seems to extend upwards more than the one I worked on.

I think part of the cause is the sharp bend the metal has here. *(back towards the window aperture)
The owner cut out the cracked area and welded in a small patch bent to the same shape.
He was very fussy with it and it only took a thin smear of Bondo to prepare for paint.
I did the painting. It looked perfect when we were done and it's held up for about 4 years now.

I bet if people checked their cars in this area they may find a similar cracks.

Is it something to worry about? Who knows?
