Heat Booster Fan delete with headers?

OK, Stupid question 1 of X:

Is there a reason to retain the electric fan atop my 3.0 engine that has no heat boxes to push air through? I have stainless headers and 2 holes in the engine compartment (and elsewhere). I'd like to remove this and block off the holes to clean up the engine bay.

I live in the deep south, Heat I'm not really worried about, but want to make sure there is no other functional purpose for the fan unit and/or ducting before I put it way up on a shelf.

.....I also have a couple of what I believe to be A/C pieces to the Left of my engine kinda sitting there, A/C has been mostly removed (no compressor, only some residual line fragments and the front condenser). They are a couple of cylinders mostly sitting here seeming to go to nothing at the moment. I'd of course put away whatever WAS a/c related just in case, or offer it up for sale. I envision after everything else is about perfect I'd love to add a/c back into my car but I think w/ it's current state it would be easier to start w/ a complete brand new system.

No such thing as a stupid question. Thats what we call the ones that are never asked,...

If you have headers on your 3.0 motor and blockoffs, the electric fan should go away.

Post a picture of the A/C components you are asking about as that will REALLY help. The factory air (Behr & VPA) of that era wasn't very good and there are much better components to buy that will actually cool you down. We use Griffith for such things.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the items highlighted in yellow are superfluous if I don't have (and don't care to have) operating HEAT?!

The stuff circled in red is the fuel filter and fuel accumulator, might want to keep that in the car! There is a bracket just forward of the ignition unit that they clamp to. Everything in yellow can go but you need two heat block-off plates for proper engine cooling. Pelican sells them.

I was wondering where the fuel filter was in these things . Yeah, I'd say I want to keep those around but I need to get them back where they aught to be. There's an open fitting close to where they are sitting that looks like an A/C line which is what made me think a/c, but I need to trace down some of these things obviously.

The car has been sitting after a stalled restoration for a couple years so I'm busy working through what's here and not. (after new gas) she starts and purrs like a kitten, has fresh oil, etc....

Search for "heater backdate".

I just did mine on an 87 Carrera. Very happy with the results. You can actually get rid of most of that plumbing and still keep the heat (if you needed it). I have a brief write up on it in my blog below. Not to technical, but the job isn't too technical either. Just need the pre-74 ducting.

just curious...have you looked inside the air box? Is there a pop off valve? If not, you might want to search that and pick one up to install.

I would buy your heater fan if you want to sell it and its functional. Heat is important still in Colorado.

Actually yes, there is a pop-off valve I'm happy to say. I've not gotten as far as to figure out if it's got updated chain tensioners (or much else obviously). Once I get it fully re-assembled I'll start checking the valves, studs, etc. For what I paid for her it was actually a bonus there was an engine at all, let alone one that started and ran smoothly
