What to do with my dash....
My '78 911SC has a dash that is badly cracked. I've been looking into the plastic dash caps that cover the existing dash. Does anyone have pics of one that's installed? I'm concerned that it will look a little cheap, but I'd be happy to hear otherwise. Thanks!

I bought a DashCap and covered it in Alcantara. Fits perfect. I didn't have a cracked dash, just wanted Alcantara!

That looks pretty clean. How much was the cover, and how difficult was it to install?

The dashcap was 129, Alcantara was 90, upholstery shop charged 50 to cover the dash with the Alcantara, I installed, easy.

I have to say thats the best low cost cracked dash fix I've seen..
No semi gloss dash reflection glare on the inside of the windsheild either. |

That does look really good, my dash is cracked badly as well.
Where can you buy the dash caps, are they for sale here on pelican? |

Dash caps are o.k., but to my eye they always look like an add-on. I suggest getting the dash recoverd.
It's not cheap, but the results are far superior to what you can get with a dash cap. Btw, I strongly recommend Classic 9 Leather Shop Porsche Interior Restoration Automobile Reupholstery Craftsman |

I got it directly from dashcap because I didn't see a dash for an 87 listed at Pelican. If you contact them, they can probably get one.
I didn't want it to look like an "add-on" either, but the fit was perfect with no telltale evidence that it is. I wanted it to pop a little bit so I had the stitching done in red.... still need to cover the knee pad to complete the look and get rid of the blue/black. . ![]() ![]()

You could always try "flocking" the dash, just google it, cost around $150.
Covers the old dash and gives a non glare type finish.
