How to keep sidewall carpet in place?

I'm looking for ways to keep the carpet in place on the sidewalls of the footwells. As you can see in the picture, glue didn't work very well for the previous owner. I was thinking about sheet metal screws with trim washers - is that taboo?

Maybe the glue is just old? You could try a new layer of stickier glue like 3M Super 77 or 90 after stripping the old glue off.

I wouldn't drill any holes there. I use Wurth glue, just make sure you apply to both sides and wait at least 15 minutes before gluing.
The heater tube makes it hard for it to seat well but it should hold.

+1 on what has been said, don't drill holes in your car please!

Use grease and wax remover to remove the old glue, and then use something that good.

Clean as much of the old glue off as possible. I have had new glue reactivate the old and then nothing will stick.

3M 77 use it all over the car to shore up gravity-induced problems

I think i punched a little hole in the carpet and used a zip tie loosely onto the big black wire loom for that spot

By Wurth Glue, do you mean Wurth Weatherstrip adhesive, or something else?
