Before and After (feable excuse to show pics)

I acquired Ruby (the Mistress) almost 2 years ago and, with the help of everyone here, have learned more about this incredible vehicle and busted more knuckles than I care to recount.

I used to dabble in 60s erea vehicles, but never ran across such a tight knit group of people with commoin passions and so willing to share. I have aquired more used parts (some free) and have been able to pay it forward to assist others with the same passion. I am always amazed at how many people are willing to provide advice to questions on this forum, even if it was the 50th time they have answered the same question.

I have never posted a question on this forum and NOT received a useful/helpful response (despite how stupid some of the questions are) and have never been able to not locate a part I needed.

So, the above drabble brings me to say a big thank you to all for the help I have received and the friends I have made.

Below are a couple of pics, the first was the day I bought the Mistress, the other two (after a lot of hard work) are from the The Avenues Cars and Coffee this weekend (thanks Willtel for the pics)

BEFORE

AFTER (sans DP tail, Boxster wheels and purple tint)

Looks very nice. Love the look of a clean decklid. Congratulations!

It's refreshing to see an impact bumper car looking so good. Well done.

Nice colour... And I like the front valance. That looks like an early Ruf piece.

Beautiful car, excellent choice on going back to Fuchs and the flat hood. I really like the splitter also. Nice!

Yeah, for sure. That looks awesome with the black centered Fuchs. Makes me want to go install my spoilerless lid...

Really does look great. May i ask, did the car come with a matching, perhaps original, deck lid without the spoiler, did you buy one and get it painted, or some other solution?

Personally I think your choice of wheels was the perfect match for your car....It looks great. Love the new stripe as well.

Thanks for the compliments - I am very proud of it.

I thought you might like the wheels Don - you do good work with some polish and a can of Rustoleum! I also like how the PORSCHE decals on the rockers came out - very subtle and a little unique for impact bumper cars (you can hardly see them in the pic above which is exactly what I was trying to accomplish).

BR-549 - The car only came with a large fiberglass DP Motorpsports tail. I thought it looked too large with non-turbo fenders, so I sold it to a fellow Pelican who supplied me with another lid - I had it painted to match. The decklid on it now actually came off of an SC - I had to have the holes welded up before paiting it.

sabeo.m - thanks, the paint is pretty old and took a lot of polishing and some wet sanding in spots to bring the shine out. The paint takes wax very well and really gives it a deep ruby color.

Very nicely done! The car's stance is PERFECT and the subtle period Porsche stripe is a nice touch as well.

Now I feel kinda bad about appropriating the $300 center caps that used to be on your Fuchs wheels.

Center caps!
Sorry I missed seeing it in person this weekend - but the Mitty was great - 2 days and got to meet Brian Johnson and get a signature. Now your saying who's Brian? The lead singer with AC/DC - he and his wife were both racing, he won his class - a very nice guy btw.

Brian Johnson - that would have been cool. I saw him on Top Gear a couple of weeks ago, he set the lap record as I recall. Seems like he would have a million stories to tell.

Center caps, Tom? - bought some this weekend from a fellow Pelican, will have them soon.

Beautiful, beautiful car. Before looked hoopty-ish. I'd take it all the way back and install an original valance, but that's just one man's opinion.
