Thought I'd share a couple pics of the RSR replica my freind/mechanic built over the winter for a client. It is a 75 body origionally, with front clip backdated to pre 74. All steel flares and a fresh built 2.8L (has had 3 hrs on the dyno). Weighed in at just over 1800 pounds before seats were installed. The 2.8 is putting out around 280 hp.
Car is being built for a customer (police officer) heh heh. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ------------------ Matt Macpherson 1975 911 S nvalve@yahoo.com |

Rear decklid is fiberglass, all other components (ie. carpet, door panels, dash brakes, etc, etc, etc) are lightweight products. The seats that ended up going in are pretty heavy though. They are late seventies sport seats. ALso, when we weighed the car it had no gas in it.

1.when you say all other components I assume doors also? the post '74 cars had crash protection doors(ie. heavier). If the doors are fiberglass how was the fit and function?
2. is that rollbar mild steel or chromoly? |

Absolutely gorgeous.
I love it, I really like the plain anodised Fuch's. The car is stunning. Ho hum, just a lottery ticket away I guess. ___ Jon |

Exactly how many pounds "just over 1800" are we talking? Getting a 911 to 1800# requires *very* aggressive lightening. From the photos it does not appear so, but I could be wrong. In any case, very nice car.

Doors are steel (early). It weighed in just over 1800 before seats and gas. I'll find out if it has been weighed again since then. Also make and material of roll bar.

![]() That color is dazzling. What's up with the styling concept? '72 horn grilles '73 long hood '73 RSR fenders '73 ducktail '74 reflector panel '74 IROC bumpers/valences Those ideas all ones he liked, and sorta mashed up into one car? I can deal with that. Help me understand that mono-wiper though. Really gorgeous color. 280 HP sounds too high as well. 2.8 will make 250 on a good day, right folks?
I ask with a vested interest. I was thinking of rebuilding my 2.0S block into a 2.8 RSR. I hear that boring to 2.8 is a good conversion for the 2.0. But I was counting on 230 to 250 HP, not 280. What's the story here, just exaggerated a bit? |

Hmm, that 2.8 out of a 2.0 sounds scary. You will be wanting a "7R" case to do that with. That old case is going to blow up.

That is a sharp car, to be sure. I am sure it is plenty fast. However, I think some of the specs may be a little optomistic.
Here is a link to a story about an early car that was brought down to 1800 lbs. The list of mods to get it down to that weight are exhaustive. Fiberglass everwhere. And this to a relatively light '73 (factory weight about 2300 lbs). http://early911sregistry.org/jCalzia.html |

Hello, just confirmed weight. 1850 was without seats, glass, rollbar and gas. Weight of car as seen in picture is 2150 (still pretty nimble). Roll bar is mild steel. Second wiper hasn't been put on yet.
Maybe my memory illudes me as to the hp numbers? but I was pretty sure that was spun off the dyno. ------------------ Matt Macpherson 1975 911 S nvalve@yahoo.com |

That weight still seems a little low. My 72 RS Replica which was built for the track has lexan windows on the sides and rear, a pair of lightweight race seats, a fiberglass hood and bumpers and light door panels and RS Carpet kit. It weighed 2224 the last time it was wieghed at the track. Regardless That is a very nice machine. The 280HP number is definitely realistic depending on how the motor was put together.
