the snapon leak detector was basically a device that pumped white smoke into the intake or exhaust. the smoke leaking out showed the leak. somehow i couldn't justify spending $1700 for this item.

John W W--The Snap-On Model AC6500 operates on ultrasonic sound. Easy to use and very accurate. Cost is about $150 from Snap-On. Can't tell who made this for Snap-On from examining the unit. It's out there being sold by other distributors. Once you see catalog and know what it looks like I'm sure it can be purchased on the cheap. It's a home run, IMHO
