Starting question

I have an 86 carrera 3.2. I haven't started it in about two weeks so today I went to take it out it was turning but didn't start. I tried it a second time and it started. I drove it for about 45 minutes stopped twice and it started on first try but turning longer before starting. Same thing happened tonight. It turned wouldn't start up then I tried it again and it started. Any thoughts? Also. anyone know where I can pick up an owner's manual for the 86 Carerra? I think my mechanic has mine, I'll check with him tomorrow..

Thanks,

Leo

Try swapping out the DME relay, you should have a spare anyways.

Then check the CHTS OHMs

Strange Indeed.
Coincidently, i had to get towed back just last night actually.
Rain had got to my distributor and i also got this sort of symtoms.
Put in WD40, car started right up again.
Stalled and refused to restart, so WD40 again.
This went for a couple of times, until it so happen that tow truck was sending another car to a nearby workshop, so I decided to get him to send me & the car home.

So had to get me air compressor to throughly dry it up.

Thanks gents,

This morning it started right up immediately, very strange. I also found my manual or I should say my wife wound it! I think that perhaps I'm not driving it enough, only 1100 miles since Nov 1st but it does hybernate during our Kansas winters.

Thanks again,

Leo

Leo,

You may have gotten lucky, but I believe the problem may return again. If you don't have a spare DME relay, you should get one...very cheap insurance.
