Golf Clubs in a 911

Hi guys,
I have an 86 coupe and was thinking of ways to transport my golf clubs without just sitting everything in the front seat with seat reclined. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I was thinking of laying the bag in the back seat, but it won't fit width wise with the clubs in so I was thinking of putting the clubs themselves in teh front but worry about clatter and sliding around. Anyone have have any good ideas

Thanks

Maybe...

What I did with my brother's and my clubs last year was to take out the woods and put them in the front under the hood and the clubs fit okay in the back seats...but the woods may also fit at a bit of an angle in the back if you take them out of the bag. My brother is a big guy and builds his own clubs...makes them a little longer than most. So no way they were going to fit in the bag in the back seat. Seemed to work well as we blasted off to a local course.

Get a SWB.
They fit in the trunk.
That is how Dr. Porsche designed the 911 trunk - to fit two sets of clubs.

Best,
Grady

I pull the long clubs and stick them behind the seats. Then the bag with the other clubs lays in the back. Works fine on two different 911's I have.

From what I've read it is true (and one of the changes from the 356), grady says it so I believe it!

But, a set of clubs in a bag in the 1960s looks a lot different than a current set of clubs/bag. The gear was a lot more compact then.

Still, 2 sets of clubs and 2 people still easily fit in a 80s 911, it just takes some moving around of clubs, etc.

I would say it used to be true, but like most of us, clubs are bigger and fatter and the bags are also bigger... The heel of my bag is now too large to fit in my trunk so I put the woods in there and the bags across the back seat. 2 sets is easy.

I use a small Callaway stand bag - bigger than a "Sunday bag," but smaller than a full size bag. This newer model looks to be about the same size as mine: Callaway Golf Strike Stand Bag

I take the driver and 3 wood out and put them in first. Everything fits in the trunk just fine that way.

I move the passengers seat all the way forward and recline the seat forward and put clubs in towards back of drivers seat and bag just makes it to sit on floor behind passengers seat. Forget taking anyone with you.

buy a junior sized carry bag and lay it across the back seats. might have to take out the driver depending on length. Added benefit is they are very light bags to carry on the course. I used a Titleist junior carry bag.

like this Titleist Bag Junior Stand Bag BAGS

"I pull the long clubs and stick them behind the seats. Then the bag with the other clubs lays in the back."
Right...'nuff said, almost.
Lay down a blanket on the folded down rear seats, and another on the floor behind the front seats. Take ALL the clubs out and lay them on the floor. Wrap up the clubs, then the bag and cart with the blankets to protect the seat backs and other interior pieces, and hit he road. Yes, you should be able to do it with a couple of sets of clubs. Don't AX/DE on the way to the course.....
It only takes a few minutes to pull clubs and then put them back in.....have a beer while all that is going on and you'll make more putts, too. Trust me.....

I know for a fact that it is true. It was one of the things they taught when I became an authorized Porsche new car salesman back in the late 80's. We were trained on a lot of heritage.

I lay my woods on the floor of the trunk and the bag goes in diagonally, mind you I bought a stand bag that was very narrow just so it would fit in the 911s trunk. they fit pretty easily behind the seat also.

Golf Clubs as a Design Statement:

Henry Ford, had the rear of the '57 Thunderbird redesigned because golf clubs wouldn't fit in the trunk of the '55 and '56.
