Engine's Out - Projects?
I have my engine out for a Transmission Rebuild. My car is an '85 911 with about 102k miles on it.
Here is the list of projects I plan to undertake while the engine is out. I am about $700 over my budget - so if there is anything that seems unnecessary or otherwise, I would appreciate any input. Also if there is anything that is obviously missing, let me know. If you haven't done it already now would be a good time to R&R the leak prone fuel lines as described in this post:
Fuel lines sent to Amazon Hose Tampa for rebuild

Hi

I'd replace the CHT sensor; both crank sensors, O2 sensor, Intake runner gaskets, fuel damper and fuel regulator and the fuel lines are a must.
If you don't replace the crank sensors at the very least make sure they have the correct gaps and before replacing the engine and put a small film of grease around them so if you have to remove them later, they'll slide out easily without removing the engine again.

rear monballs - much easier to put in with the engine out.
At 102 miles, I would probably replace motor mounts/transmission mounts. Then what barrpete and targa me said. DEFINITELY looks at your crank/reference and CHT sensor - if your CHT sensor is one wire - replace it even if it looks OK. DEFINITELY replace fuel lines -

Do yourself a favor, do the sound pad (if you want one) with the engine out.

I've been living and breathing "engine removal" threads for the last 3 or 4 months.
I will double check but believe I replaced motor mounts, transmission mounts, O2 Sensor 2 years ago. Also may have had CHT and Crank sensors replaced.. I am adding Intake runner gaskets, fuel damper, fuel regulator and the fuel lines to the list. I will check out the Engine Sound Pad too. Great feedback. Only wish I had more $$$$.

Might as well replace the hood shock(s) too. I'd like to replace mine but getting around the engine isn't worth the effort (for now).
If yours are sagging even a little might as well do it while access is easy.
