Yet another rendition begins
Ok....here is the story....I bought this car from my brother about 4 years ago. He pretty much likes things the way they come....and is not much one for change. I am the one that can never leave good enough alone....Here are some pictures of what I started with. Then a few of some of the modifications I did to make it my own. Then even more of what some say is crazy...why would you take a perfectly nice Carrera and cut it up. Well call me crazy but I have always been one to do things my way. If you decide to follow along, you will see that I will be doing a non-standard IROC conversion on my car. This will not be a track car. I will not be upgrading the brakes (the car stops just fine), I will not be upgrading the suspension (it rides just fine). This project is being done on a tight budget(relatively speaking). I have obtained some great parts from people here over the last few weeks (new 930 fenders, new Dansk rear flares, 4 wheels (more on that later) and TRE will be getting a phone call in a few days for the new IROC front and rear bumpers. Then Rattlsnak will work his magic on the rear flares, and I will start on the rest of the bodywork...wish me luck....let the show begin.

Is that a bit of rust on the passenger side front fender near the rear where it meets the lid? If so, I guess it's a good thing you're diving into this now.
As well, those steel wheels look kinda good. Even though they're probably just there for your change. What size are the rears? They look rather deep. Good luck with your project.

Hey Don, what color is that? BTW, my wife says to put it back the way it was (after you added the ducktail)! It's gorgeous!

The wheels are remakes from way back in the day....Chevrolet barrels 7'' on the rears. My brother used them back in the day for autocross wheels ...just to give you an idea of the age, do you remember Goodyear NCT being the hot tire setup? And they still hold air. As far as what is coming for the wheels, Tru design will get the call on that one...17X9 and 17x11 built from some damaged Fuchs I found here.

It is Marine Blue. It will remain Marine Blue. Just like a woman to rain on my parade.

I just did that 'upper fender rust repair' on my 911. (Awful job).
Of course, I also put the factory fenders right back on. This should be interesting. Purists vs. modifiers.... |

So, if this is not going to be a track car, your choice to go stock with the suspension and brakes is OK. For the track, you will want to make some changes...
