Wheel Spacers

I am struggling a bit with SEARCH this morning. There is a good thread illustrating wheel offsets. In particular, I am trying to figure out what size spacers I need for my SC to run OEM Cup II 17" wheels.

Anyone know the thread or the answer to my question?

Thanks.

Measure the old wheels from the new cup wheels, the offset, and get a spacer that fits the differance.

Just remember that a spacer reduces the ET by same amount as the thickness of the spacer. If the width is the same then use a spacer that gets you down to where you need to be. If the widths are different then it's harder because usuall as the width goes up the ET needs to go up too.

Instead of getting a headache doing the math use a commercial site to do it for you

Here's a good one that does most of the work

here's a pic that shows you what the terms mean

1 inch on the front, 2 inches on the rear. Roughly.

With the stock SC or Carrera body flares.

On my wife 1976, When I put in the Wide Body Kit, I got a set of these Exact same Concentric spacers. I am pulling them off of the car this weekend and plan to sell them! They give you the same track as the older 911 Turbo Wide Body cars using 205 width front tires and 225 width rear tires

(When I set up her 1976, I told her, with this track, it would give her 1 or 2 more moves in an emergency! Sure enough she was going through her favorite set of turns at about 130 and someone driving a Saturn at 40 cut her off (Changed lanes and never looked) My wife moved to the right lane and then the driver Looked and tried to move back to the right But by that time all of the space had run out and they met in the middle and my wife was moving back to the left. The car was stable the entire time where the 1976 was on the edge in Standard trim so those spacers saved her life!

My Dad has always said "Experience is ALWAYS something you get IMMEDIATELY AFTER you need it"! She is now Experienced and if there is another car anywhere she drives slowly!

My my SC with widebody guards had 1" front and 2" rear spacers with 7.5" and 9" cup 2 replica's and they filled out the guards nicely.

BUT unless you are using the same wheels as me and have wide guards I'd do what Bill and James suggest - measure what you have against what you had and calculate it for your car.

For a SC, I'll recount my experience.

My Front: 16x7 Phone Dial ET 23.3, 225/55-16, NEED fender rolling and negative camber.

A 17x7 Cup II at ET 55 would need a ~1" (25.4 mm) spacer to get the center of the wheel back to an effective ET 29.6mm. With a 225/45-17 would likely have enough room without rolling, as the center of the wheel is ~6.3mm closer to the center of the car. Inside clearance should be OK.

A 17x7.5 ET52 Cup II with a 1" spacer would be closer to my 16x7 PD offset. (52 - 25.4 = ET 26.6mm). A 235/45-17 would fit nicely, but also require fender rolling.

My Rear: 16x8 PD ET23.3 w/14mm spacer = ET9.7mm effective. 245/45-16 fits great stock fender, even without large negative camber.

A 17x9 ET 47 Cup II with a 1.25" (31.8mm) spacer has an effective ET of 15.2mm. The extra 5.9mm lets you go to 255/40-17 and fit.

A 17x9 ET55 Cup II would need a 40mm spacer to get to ET15.

So:
FRONT
1" (25.4mm) spacer for ET55 17x7, 225/50-17
1" spacer for ET52 17x7.5 225/50 or 235/45-17

REAR
1.25" (31.8mm) spacer for ET47 17x9, 255/40-17
40mm spacer for ET55 17x9 rear, 255/40-17

I had this as my plan, but decided to stay with 245/45-16, once Toyo started making RA-1s again. I mounted 17" Cup II and spacers on the car, without tires. and checked spacing compared to the 16" PDs with tires. Everything was going to fit as listed.

PM Returned and I DO see that you are in the USA so as I stated, After I send you the Pictures and we can agree, Then Shipping is included.

Hopefully I will also have the engine & Trans out of the car this weekend along with the spacers and Front Shocks! I am Keeping the Dutch Made Adjustable Koni's

Then I will be down to taking off the Right Trailing arm (To Match the Purchased Left Trailing arm). I am also thinking of cutting off the rear Turbo Flares and save the Rear under bumper Flare extensions and a Few Fuel and Electrical parts and FINALLY I can get this 1976 - 911s out of my yard! (It has been there for 10 years) Sorry for the ranting but you are helping me to do something I Really Need to do. (Take the parts off and get RID of that car!!!)
