Fuel line barb/fitting
Was taking off my fuel line and noticed my line around my barb wasn't very tight at all causing my fuel leak. Before I send this line off, is it simple to find this fitting at my local hardware store? The employees were not much help and I don't know exactly what this is called. I tried to use a new hose of the same size but the fitting was still not creating a seal.

Also if these rubber lines lose their strength after a while, why not stick with the OEM metal style line? I'm not sure how long the previous owner had this line on the car but it gave me issues after 2 months.

Paul, what year car did this come from?
Is it possible that the hose is the wrong ID? Also, I would have thought the hose would be crimped onto the fitting. Was there some sort of hose clamp on it? I strongly suspect a kludge by the PO. If you do not want to buy the Por$che fitting, you could try to make your own by bringing the fitting to a hydraulic shop and have them crimp on a properly sized hose. |

If that is a CIS hose they are difficult to install correctly on the cohline plastic hose.
I built a press out of oak, drilled to hold the line with a top area openen up more for expansion to accept the barbed fitting. Not my idea, someone else posted a how to long before me. Contact the fuel line guru for a replacement len@autosportengineering dot com Aka BoxsterGT. |

Thanks it is possible the last owner mocked this up himself, there was some wire tied around acting as a clamp, it didn't look nice. I tried using a fuel line specific clamp but it wasn't holding.
Len is helping me, I appreciate it. I figured I would ask since I was actually taking off the line for him and found this. I was hoping I could fix it myself with a new $3 barb at the local store. I was reading a proper sized barb and line wouldn't need any clamp. |
