1968 911L Basics
this is a great forum, and I've been lurking here for a while now; however, is there a more specific website for the vintage 911's?
I'm also looking for some sort of factory service manual for my car, but all I've come across is the haynes book. Can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA |

Welcome to The Forum ![]() You will find a lot of help here and on Early S. Your first ‘find’ should be an early 911 Factory Workshop Manual. The first two volumes have all (well – most) Factory information from 1964 models through 1971. The other four volumes cover 1972 through 1983. Additionally there is the little Factory “Spec Book’ that is very useful. It covers 1964 through 1968. There are many good books about our cars. Although they don’t fall into the category of ‘manuals’, they are full of wonderful information. The most significant is the 3-volume Porsche: Excellence Was Expected, 3rd Ed. by Karl Ludvigsen. While expensive ($300), the 2nd Ed. has virtually the same content for our ‘early’ cars. I see ‘used’ ones on Amazon.com from $35 – a bargain. I’ll encourage you to start your own “Personal Manual” for your 911L. This way you can include edited versions of all the good stuff you will find on these forums. I say ‘edited’ because many threads not directly addressing a ’68 911L are of importance to you. Again, WELCOME to the Forum. BTW, we need Pictures of your car. ![]() Best, Grady (’68 911 coupe ordered new from Porsche KG)

Yes, you will have lots of fun with learning about and driving your one-year only special 1968 911. It is even more unique than the 1970/71 cars.
