Help! Washing car, a proper way?
Hello Pelicaners...
What's a correct way to wash your rear part of the car? Since there are holes on the engine lid grill that will let water into your engine bay. I'm missing my left fuse cover, so I'm worried that water will seep into the relay contact point causing short circuit. Do you directly spray water to the engine grill? TIA ![]() ![]()

I brought my rust free 1980SC California car, which from the looks of it had never seen rain to the West Coast of Norway. We have as an average 221 days a year, and all that water into the nice engine compartment concerns me too. I believe the damage will be mostly cosmetic

I'd locate a replacement cover to install.

Unless you spray through the grill at an angle or run a huge quantity of water through the lid gap it isn't going to get over near the relay panel.
One general car washing tip that will also help with this is to use an end on the hose to make the water flow instead of spray. ![]() The real reason to use a nozzle like this is that spraying will put droplets of water all over a car that can cause water spots and you do a lot more drying. If you rinse the car with a smooth sheet of water when the water recedes you get a lot less water to dry off. Less drying, means less rubbing on the paint, means less spider scratches.
