SSI heat exchangers

Please help me with a few questions......Thermal Reactors gone on this 911S! Now, does a 1977 need thick or thin flanges on the heat exchangers? Any peticular year work best with this engine? What about the oxygen sensor fitting? Does it need to be there with the CIS fuel injection?

Thank You

'77 is thin flange and no OX sensor needed. All SSI are the same except for flanges and O2 bung so any set will work as well as any other set as long as they are in good condition. If you have a set with 02 bung find a plug and seal it up.

Sorry to disagree with Lindy, The 77 is a thick flange from the thermals with the long, thin in the center 8mm threads long studs. Does not require ox sensor but if the 80 on thick flange heat boxes are available just plug the hole with a used cut off ox sensor.

+1 My 77S, formerly with thermal reactors, required thick flange SSI's.

regards,

Save those thermals along with the rest of the exhaust! They're like gold or Unobtainium now that smog is getting to be an issue in a lot of states.

Cheers,

Joe
