13" slicks under RSR flares??
I have an early car that I will be doing some limited track time with and I have a nice opportunity for 23.5" tall 15" by 9.5" wide front slicks and 13" wide rears for my vintage OZ racing wheels. Is there any way these will fit under my rear fenders? It is a 70' with steel rsr flares.
Thanks!

13in might be a stretch. 11-11.5inch would fit with some Goodyear race rubber.

I just measured and I have 13.5" between the inside fender and the outside fender lip...I think 13" is WAY too close and would take a magician to get to work. I am going to go with a 12" section width, 10" tread width Vintage Dunlop treaded race tire. I hope it works!!

Where will you be getting your Dunlops?
And what model tire and exact sizes? Just curious. Thinking about getting a set of 15x9, 15x11 for my RSR looking buggy, but tires are always an issue for these wheels. We'll need pics when you get them mounted and installed.

Hi Doug,
The only real street tire that is available for the fat 15's is the Michelin TB at $500-600.00 ea range. Pirelli makes the 345 rears but no matching fronts. Same with the Yokos. I see guys using race tires on the street, might be o.k. for the occasional drive, but not a good idea in my opinion. The Michelins are great in the dry, o.k. in the damp, and worthless in a good rain (from experience). I run the Michelins in the summer and the Goodyears on 9 & 11 x 17's in the winter. just my .02 Harold

At the Roger Kraus site, I was looking thru the Cobra tire pages.
And on the 3rd page at the bottom, are some interesting Avon DOT radials, VR rated. Look under Race Tire Pricing/Cobra.... In these sizes: 245/60x15 and 295/50x15. They are tall (~26.7"), but might be an alternative for street tires for the 15x9, 15x11 wheels? Also this place: Sacrosports Tire Specs :: SascoSports The tires are not inexpensive.

Pretty tall. They are 2" taller than the Michelins and 1" taller than the Goodyear 335/35/17's.

The RSRs used tall tires in the day, even 27" tall! I like the look myself, kinda the opposite of the new 24" rims with 20 series tires and chrome spinners!
This is what I like.... ![]() ![]()
