Does an OEM used starter have any core value?
If so, with whom?
Or, after replacing it with a high torque unit from our host 6 months ago, should I toss it? New starter is great.

I don't know for sure, but I would think that it definatly has a "core" value. I stopped replacing generators, alternators, starters, etc....long ago.
Rebuild em', Most cities will have a reputable shop that can do it for you for much less than the cost of a new "rebuilt" product. Usually good as new, at least usually better or equal to what you would purchase. For alot less $. Find a good shop. My last starter for a GM product was over $300 rebuilt from them, under $100 to have the 'old' one rebuilt, yea, it took me about an hr. Still working 5 years later......seems better than new :>) Same story with an alternator. Take it off, rebuild it, put it back on. Just .02 Karl 88 Targa |
