Gt/gt2/gt3

Ok it used to be easier when the classes were A, B, C. My car is 38 years old and then all we had was T, E, S. Now what is the difference between GT, GT2 and GT3?

Thanks Terry

GT3 is faster on the street but in the ALMS the GT is faster than the GT3, is that right?

For ALMS, the higher the number, the slower the cars. LMP2 is slower than LMP1 (although Porsche showed otherwise last year!). GT2 is the slowest class overall, but probably the most interesting to watch.

In the European Le Mans Series, the GT3 (Porsche 997 Cup, Ferrari 430, Audi R8) cars are usually faster than the GT2 cars because they are lighter and more powerful and less expensive. Which is why most guys are running GT3 now.

Porsche named the GT2 and GT3 (street cars) after the racing classes.
