Unhappy ALL-Pls Help.Dizzy is it broken?

Hi all

Recently I've been having problems with my 69 T engine in that it was missing at higher revs (and now will hardly run at all).

I've put this down to the distributor as I've tested everything else. The spark to the plugs is sporadic. (has new points, condensor). I have the Marelli type and have been told its made out of "Unobtainium". I thought it was maybe the cap and rotor but I'm sure these are ok, just a little old, they clean up ok.
BUT the section under the rotor arm, it has two arms and two small springs - I guess this is the advance. Well these look very loose, ie you can easily rotate it by hand, it moves quite a bit before the springs work. It's hard to explain but does this sound right.

If this is wrong can it be fixed ? I really don't want to buy a new dizzy if it can be repaired and also can't afford a new one at present.

If it is broken does anyone have a good working one for sale which will fit a 69 case (I believe the hole is smaller)

Please help, I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms from not driving my car.

Alan no car.

Hey Alan;
A friend of mine has a digital camera I need to learn how to use anyway. I'll take pictures of the internal workings of my Marelli, including various movements.
There are two springs of substantially different strengths.
If you can get that 'E' disty from ebay, do it. The Marelli will continue to be a problem in the future. I got a rebuilt Bosch for $300. Works fine.
